FAQ - THE CLEVELAND TRIATHLON CLUB
What are your members like? Do I need a lot of triathlon experience to join? The club has over 250 active members of all levels of interest, experience, and ability in the sport of triathlon. Club members range from absolute beginners to veteran ironman triathletes, and includes all age groups. The majority of our members reside throughout Northeast Ohio. Club members are very friendly and welcoming of all.
What types of workouts does the club have? Spring through fall, the club offers weekly swim, bike and run workouts, including several open water swims. We schedule workouts on all sides of Cleveland and most workouts are open to any level athlete. The club also has a newbies group - created to help new triathletes get involved in the sport - and a long course training group for members tackling half and full ironman distance races. The club occasionally schedules special clinics for our members or holds special training events for area races. Does the club offer training all year? Yes. In the winter months, the club has a very popular indoor triathlon series held at area health clubs. The club continues to schedule some runs and rides as the weather permits. Club members also participate in a variety of cross-training activities such as cross-country skiing, mountain biking and rock climbing to name a few.
How do I find members to train with in my area? Aside from attending a club workout in your area, you can also find training partners by using the club forum. Just sign on and post a message.
Does the club offer coaching? We don't provide coaching services, though we can recommend coaches in the area. Also, may of our more experienced members can offer advice and tips at club workouts or on the forum. Just ask.
Does the club have meetings? Yes. The club has quarterly membership meetings.
Are there any social events for members? The club schedules a spring and fall picnic, a holiday gathering, and members will often go out to eat or drink after certain workouts.
How will I find out about Club training sessions, events and meetings? Check out our Web site home page and forum regularly. We also send a regular e-mail, nicknamed "The Blast", approximately every two weeks to Club members.
What are the club dues? Club dues are $20, and all Club memberships expire on March 31 of the following year, regardless of the date you sign up. Members can renew between January 1 and March 31. For more information, check out our membership drive FAQ.
What are some other club benefits? Club members receive a t-shirt, access to the club website and forum, a wealth of information on all that’s tri-related, a variety of discounts thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and affiliates (including discounts to Bike Authority, Fleet Feet Northfield, and North Chagrin Sports Management) certain area races such as the Greater Cleveland Triathlon, and more), reasonably priced club apparel, friends and fun, and more!
Do I need to be a member to participate in a club activity? Club activities are open to club members and guests only. We do allow interested members to attend training events as a club guest to get a feel for the club.
How do I get involved with the club? Aside from attending club training and other activities, we encourage our members to join a club committee or to volunteer at club events or races the club supports.
