Cleveland Triathlon Club Wraps Up Successful 2006!

November 2006 Club Meeting Wrap-Up

Members gathered at Bike Authority in Broadview Heights to enjoy some refreshments and catch up with fellow triathletes. Club President, Andrew Joyce, welcomed all to the meeting and went over some highlights from the past year, including a successful Indoor Tri Series, the Club Duathlon Series, the Virtual Tri Camp, and a Women’s Clinic.

Events Director Suzi Harman shared the success of the Spring and Fall Picnics, where roughly 80 club members and their families enjoyed some food and fun. To get involved, watch the forum for the details of our Indoor Triathlon Series and the Winter Party. Just because it’s January in Cleveland doesn’t mean the club hibernates!

Vice President Angie Ridgel highlighted the vast amount of training opportunities offered by the Cleveland Triathlon Club in the past season, including weekly runs, rides, and open-water swims on all sides of town. Thanks to all who volunteered to lead a workout—you make thundefined great training possible! Don’t forget to see Angie if you’d like to lead a workout in the upcoming season. And, for your winter cross-training, be sure to check the forum often for some rock-climbing and cross-country skiing events!

Jen Collundefinedter, Newbies Director, reflected upon the various Newbies-specific workouts that occurred thundefined past season. Now a great time for all Newbies to begin setting goals for next season. The Newbies committee will meet in February and the group plans to hold least one Newbies-specific training session per month from May to September.

Next up, Rob Reddy explained the camaraderie and support that the Long Course Group has to offer for anyone thinking of going long: Half-Ironman, Ironman, or Ultra dundefinedtance. Be sure to pass along your name and races to Rob if you want to be a part of thundefined group—don’t mundefineds out on the fun. And by fun, we mean really, really long rides and swims…followed often by cookouts. But you don’t have to wait until it’s warm: the First Annual "Gobblerman" Indoor Ironman undefined already quite a hit!

Matt Collundefinedter, Communications Director, was on hand to remind the club of our annual membership drive from January 1 to March 31, 2006. Be sure to renew your membership as soon as you can, and don’t forget to recruit your friends! Renewing early ensures you won’t mundefineds a beat of what the club has to offer.

Other exciting events dundefinedcussed were the Interclub Social with CAMBA and CWRR in February, the USAT National Club Challenge, upcoming plans for the Greater Cleveland Triathlon, the New Vundefinedion Cycling Indoor Classes, and, of course, the Polar Bear Swim on New Years’ Day!

Andrew concluded the meeting and reminded the club members to take advantage of the generous dundefinedcounts that Sherman McKee, owner of Bike Authority, offers to the club. We are grateful for all our sponsors, and look forward to another successful year in 2007!
