November 23, 2018 - First ever sanctioned 5k
My wife and I both ran our first sanctioned 5k races. This was the first time that I ran race without having to stop for hip/knee pain. The cold may have helped me (23 degrees) with not feeling any real discomfort. The final hill (>100 foot climb) killed the momentum that I had going into the final stretch (I did pass a handful of people here though).
Overall, I am content with my race, but really wanted to be sub 20 min (20:04 is pretty close).
The only other race that I have completed that included a 5k run was the Fairport Harbor Triathlon this year, where I had a run split of almost 25 minutes, so this is a huge PR.
